BIRMINGHAM CLINICAL TRIALS UNIT (BCTU)
Senior Medical Statistician
Applications are invited for an experienced medical statistician to advance their career within a successful and expanding clinical research Unit. The successful candidate will play a central role in the Unit's research, consultancy and teaching activities including designing trials and assessing their feasibility, funding applications, oversight of trial processes, analysis and reporting of trials, meta-analyses, methodological research and supervision of other statisticians.
Applicants should have a postgraduate statistics qualification and at least 5 years experience in clinical trials and meta-analyses along with strong statistical and computing skills, a detailed knowledge of statistical packages (preferably SAS), good attention to detail, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, the ability to communicate statistical issues to non-statisticians and a desire to develop leadership skills in clinical research.

Starting salary in the range of £31,525 to £37,643 a year (potential progression on performance once in post to £42,367). The post is available initially until 31.03.2007, with a strong likelihood that the contract will be renewed.
