Position Available - Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Institute of Statistics seeks a
candidate for the
position of Executive Director of the Institute. The Institute of Statistics
was created to
coordinate the production of statistics by governmental agencies and to
implement changes in
the data collection processes in order to make governmental statistics
reliable, timely, and
broadly accessible. According to the law that created the Institute, the
Executive Director
should be a person of recognized personal and professional integrity,
objectivity, and
competence in the fields of statistics, economy or planning.
The candidate should have the following qualifications:
1. A doctoral degree in an area of public policy and administration,
business administration,
or the social sciences, such as, statistics, economy, planning, demography,
sociology, etc.
2. Be knowledgeable about statistical methodology and its applications, and
experienced in
data management and statistical systems as evidenced by work experience,
research, or
publications.
3. Previous managerial or administrative experience to qualify him/her to
manage a public
corporation.
4. Vision, leadership, effectiveness in reaching established goals, and
excellent interpersonal
skills.
5. Fully bilingual: excellent verbal and writing skills in both languages,
Spanish and English.
The salary will be commensurate with the experience and credentials of the
candidate.
Expected starting date is August 1, 2006. The search will continue until the
position is filled.
