Salary in the range of £38,817 to £46,638 p.a. inc
The MRC Clinical Trials Unit is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence for the design and conduct of clinical trials and related research. The CTU employs over 30 statisticians and epidemiologists and collaborates in trials in HIV, cancer and other diseases both nationally and internationally.
The main focus of the Other Diseases Group is to assist in the design and conduct of clinical trials in neglected disease areas and in areas without an established infrastructure for conducting randomised trials. The work of the group includes collaborating with clinicians in disease specific networks to develop and conduct trials in respiratory medicine, tuberculosis, musculoskeletal disease and transfusion medicine. Associated research within the Clinical Trials Unit includes statistical methodology aimed at improving clinical trial design and analysis.
The post holder will work with clinicians in the UK and in Africa to develop new proposals and will have day-to-day responsibility for the design, coordination and analysis of research in one or more disease areas, overseeing the work of research teams including trial managers and statisticians. An active interest in methodological research would be valuable and would be encouraged.
The successful candidate should possess a post-graduate qualification in medical statistics and have at least 5 years experience in the design and conduct of clinical trials and/or epidemiological studies.
Salary is dependent on previous experience and includes Location Allowance and Central London Supplement. Benefits include 30 days annual leave days per year, a contributory pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan. The post is available immediately.
