CONTRACT: Pharmaceutical Sciences Statistician
UK Based - 12 month rolling contract
Job Summary:
Working for a market leading Pharmaceutical company, you will provide
statistical support to the Pharmaceutical Scientists responsible for the
synthesis of drug substance, formulation of drug products and development of
manufacturing processes and analytical methods.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
* Collaborate on the design of experiments, often using fractional
factorials and response surface methods. Must be able to communicate well
with scientists to influence the way experiments are run, maximizing the
information that can be gained.
* Analyse data obtained from experiments. Must have experience of
ANOVA, regression and other commonly applied linear models. Advantageous to
have experience of multivariate methods, quality control and other
techniques commonly used in manufacturing industries. Must be able to
explain statistical conclusions to scientists, and have the confidence to
discuss how these can be interpreted in the scientific context.
* Present results orally, possibly aided by MS Powerpoint, either on a
1:1 basis or to small groups. Write reports using MS Word.
* Use appropriate software: Design Expert, Statgraphics, SAS, Genstat,
S+ and WinBUGS are available.
* Depending upon experience, may be expected to work mainly with
minimal supervision supporting a well defined customer group.
Essential Skills & Capabilities:
Bachelors Degree qualified candidates with experience of experimental
design.
Candidates do not have to have a pharmaceutical / clinical background -
manufacturing or general science experience is advantageous.
May consider recently qualified candidates with a PhD or MSc.
