BioSS offers two rewarding appointments for individuals seeking a
challenging and intellectually stimulating career at the interface between
statistics and scientific research. Post-holders will work alongside other
BioSS researchers and consultants to provide a quantitative foundation for
biological and environmental research funded by the Scottish Executive,
conduct applied research in statistical methodology, and develop a
portfolio of consultancy and contract research.
Two starting grades are available, with salaries in the ranges
£23 - £26K or £27 - £32K (pay award pending), plus contributory public
sector pension.
Applicants must have a strong academic record, preferably to PhD level,
showing potential for, and enthusiasm to develop, collaborations with
biological and environmental scientists. Appointment to the higher grade
requires at least three years experience in applied statistics / stochastic
modelling, demonstrated by a record of applied research publications.
BioSS provides a lively and supportive environment for consultancy and

end users.
