Dr. Paul Yoder will present his online course "Analysis of
Sequential Events" at statistics.com Jan. 12 - Feb. 9.
Participants can ask questions and exchange comments with
Dr. Yoder via a private discussion board throughout the
period.
This course covers how to analyze associations among sequential
events, where an event is one of a limited set of defined
events, particularly human behavior events. Consider a
classroom where certain classes of student and teacher
behaviors are recorded, and you want to analyze whether one
behavior is likely to follow another. Such data does not
conform to the classic statistical notion of events with
outcomes, and special analysis is required to assess
whether observed associations differ from what chance would
produce.
Dr. Paul Yoder, past director of the Observational
Measurement Core at Vanderbilt University, is a major
contributor to the methodological, statistical, and
substantive sequential analysis literature. He is a
practicing scientist who uses sequential analysis in his
past, current, and future research projects on social
interactions in children with disabilities and their
parents or teachers.
