Dear all

The Statistical Advisory Service, at Imperial College London, is holding
their Annual Guest Lecture on Thursday June 22nd. All are welcome!

STATISTICAL ADVISORY SERVICE

is dedicated to helping researchers from within the College and beyond, to
improve the design of their studies and the analysis of their hard-won data.

ANNUAL GUEST LECTURE

"Future fashions in pharmaceuticals: bespoke or prêt-a-porter?"

Presented by Professor Stephen Senn, Department of Statistics, at
University of Glasgow.

THURSDAY JUNE 22nd: 5.00pm.

Abstract:
Future fashions in pharmaceuticals: Bespoke or tailor-made?

Pharmaceutical opinion makers, whether influential scientists, leading
journal editors, or captains of industry seem convinced that we stand on
the brink of a revolution in treatment, with so-called 'theranostic'
strategies giving patients the treatments that are best for them.

Pharmacogenomics is the science that will drive this revolution. However, I
shall show that a little more care and attention in planning, analysing and
interpreting clinical trials, even when no genotyping is undertaken, could
contribute a great deal to elucidating personal response to treatment and
that there may be grounds for supposing that the role for tailor-made
medicine may be smaller than many suppose.

Please come along on Thursday June 22nd to hear Professor Senn speak. The
lecture will be followed by a drinks reception, where snacks will be
available.

Tickets are not required, but to help with catering, please advise Richard
Kells (0207 594 3856 / [log in to unmask]) if you wish to attend, or
you require further information.

The location is Room 121/122, Sir Alexander Fleming Building, South
Kensington Campus, Exhibition Road, London SW7 2AZ.
