I think that the management and training is essential with the system
and also the actual locations are limited in that it is very one
directional but it is a great step forward and I know that there is talk
of embossed arrows to aid directional information, etc.

Jane
I work as the sign consultant to the RNIB and JMU Access Partnership.
My concern with the SOS wayfinding system would be how a person would
know through touch what the surfaces actually meant. It's the same with
their tactile door panel. Unless all visitors/staff are briefed on what
the tactile surface means how would they know which direction to go or
what the sign is trying to tell them?
Regards
Mark

Subject: TACTILE INDICATORS
Is anybody aware of a recognised tactile indicator cue that could be
used in a wayguidance system system to assist in an emergency evacuation
situation?
Also, are there any standards or guidance documents available for
tactile indicators?
Thank you.
