There are motorised evac chairs on the market that can 'scoop up' an
occupied wheelchair with quite a heavy person. Check out the Disabled Living
Foundation for advice or the forthcoming Independent Living Show at
Alexander Palace this October for demos etc.

Hi Kelvin,
There are products such as Evac-Chairs designed to allow anyone assisted
evacuation down stairs to escape from a building. To my knowledge there are
no products allowing wheelchair users to do the same whilst staying in their
wheelchairs. All these products have limitations on their use and cost is
always an important element.
