Wow! Thanks a bunch to all of you! What a quick response. All your advice and suggestions will be taken on board. Just to clarify, the bathroom toilet shower will all be in the same room in the upstairs.
The problem with the grants is they are means tested and I, like most working disabled people, would probably not be entitled to help.
The issues I have had with vinyl flooring as part of a wet room is that it will move, especially when turning wheelchairs on them. I currently have vinyl flooring which does just that. I am afraid this movement will break the seals around the bath & toilet piping etc. thus nullifying the purpose for useing it. This might not happen if it was properly glued and fitted but then again vinyl tends to cut easily and the use of metal maidens with tubular legs have caused nicks & therefore possible leaks. I will not rule out vinyl flooring and the creation of a wet area nor, the use of marine panels.
Thanks,
John

I am not going for a shower tray but opting for a tiled floor because I believe it will provide a better finish (most of the wheelchair friendly pre-built trays have a small upstand and --- The are so expensive!). I don't know whether or not this is relevant but the floor to the upstairs bathroom is wooden floor panels.
