Dear John Rainey
I can recommend the platform lift manufacturer below and know of a number of
sites where these units have been installed and are working successfully.
One of the companies whom you have mentioned is actually supplied by this
manufacturer, which begs the question, ‘Why go through someone else, when
you can deal directly with the actual manufacturer? I am in no way involved
with this company, but have visited their site and seen, tried out and
discussed with the company’s MD their product.
Phoenix Lifting Systems was established in November 1995 and is now the
largest UK manufacturer of platform access lifts specifically for disabled
users.
These units are complete free-standing units for internal and external use,
(So an additional supporting wall or fire-proof enclosure – usually brick
work – is not required.) are hydraulically powered, can be supplied with an
emergency back-up system so that they can operate without a mains power
supply, and the enclosures supplied fully comply with UK and the more
stringent EEC safety regulations. Indeed the level of fire and safety
compliance they offered a year ago exceeded those of any other units
available in the UK. Since before long, it is likely that the more stringent
EEC regs will be mandatory, why purchase something which is only UK
compliant, only to discover in a few years time, that the UK regs are
sub-standard and more money has to be spent on ensuring they meet the more
stringent regs?
This is taken from the copy of the literature they provided me with:
‘Based in Salisbury in Wiltshire, we carry out all aspects of the contract,
from feasibility, through to design, manufacture, installation,
commissioning and of course on-going service & maintenance. Our lifts are
also sold by other manufacturers under their own brand name. You are dealing
with the actual manufacturer, not a third party.
We pride ourselves on the quality and reliability of all our lifts, and our
knowledge of the required British and European Standards to which our lifts
are built, means we can offer expert advice and service which is second to
none. Every enquiry is important to us, and we will guide you through every
step of the way, from initial quotation, through to installation and beyond
- ensuring that the lift supplied is the right lift for the job - so you can
rest assured that you will not be disappointed.
Although a modern company, we adopt 'traditional' values and we regard our
customers as real people - not simply statistics!’
