Dear all
I am hoping someone is able to provide me with technical advice. I wish to recommend a galvanized hand rail to 2 external rear steps and platform
area leading to a house. The platform area by the rear door is 930 mm x 850 mm, the height of the platform to the floor is 450 mm. The rail is for
the open edge of the steps and platform. The managing agent of the property has raised concerns that a 900 mm rail, with mid hand rail at 450 mm
and a low guard rail 150 mm high will not comply with current building regulations and that it may be unsafe for young children.
How should the rails be configured around the open edge of the platform to meet current building regulations?
