I don't have the full story John, but I understand that there may be
something of a vendetta. All but one of the residents in the street (I
believe) have signed a petition asking for it to be removed! Complicated by
the fact that the resident is from a BME group. I would have thought that
the council would have to have a very compelling reason - something more
than a petition, unless in sets out convincing arguments) to justify removal
of the markings.
Does your council have a written policy? If so it would be very helpful to
see it.
Regards.

Hi Sandy,
Oxfordshire County Highways operate such a scheme whereby individual
residents can apply to have a designated parking space marked out in front
of their home. While this is potentially an advantage for the individual
concerned, as Cliff says, it is not sacrosanct. As the bay would be marked
as a disabled persons parking bay it could not be restricted use and
therefore any person with a blue badge could legitimately park in it.
The thing that intrigues me is why the other residents are complaining?
Cheers.
John.

Subject: [ACCESSIBUILT] Disabled Parking
Hi. Sorry to rays this one yet again , but it is a different query. One of
our local councils has a policy of marking disabled parking spaces outside
houses where a resident has a Blue Badge, if they are requested to do so. In
one area local residents have presented a petition asking for the bay to be
removed and the council is minded to meet the request. I would have thought
that the DED (with reference to treating a disabled person more
favourably) would cover this situation.
Can anyone tell me if they have come across anything similar and what the
policy of their local council is?
Many thanks.
