The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) has appointed JMU Access
Partnership to prepare on its behalf, guidance relating to the
Disability Equality Duty and the carrying out of public functions,
introduced by the Disability Discrimination Act 2005.
The guidance will be aimed at:
- Planning
- Highways/Roads
- Transport Planning
- Building Control
- Conservation
- Countryside
- others responsible for planning, design and management of buildings,
the street environment and transport infrastructure.
The DRC are looking for individuals willing to talk to us about any of
these areas:
- Policies and Strategies
- Development Plans and Design Briefs
- Development and Building Control
- Highways Audits
- Town Centre Management
- Contract Agreements
We need:
- Examples of good practice (and bad practice)
- Case studies
- Training
- Involvement of disabled people
- Cross-departmental and/or cross-authority working
This guidance is being prepared by:
