I think this is an access issue, just not necessarily about the built
environment although it could be that to.

Subject: Disability Employment Prospects
Dear All,
Although this is not in the strictest sense an access issue, I am looking,
once again for your expertise and generous feedback. I am a member of our
local disability equality workers group. We have been asked to work with our
Corporate Equalities Group by looking at and responding to existing and
proposed policies. They have asked the DEWG to look at how they can improve
prospects of recruiting disabled people.
Specifically, I would like to have some views on
 What they perceive to be the barriers to us recruiting and
retaining a more diverse workforce
 Any views on how those barriers should be addressed
 Experiences of best practice elsewhere
 What role the group(s) could play in helping us increase our
workforce diversity
 Any other views that might assist
We do not need to make fair suggestions if a strong argument can be made in
favour of a practice that will give disabled people a fairer chance at
getting a job. I believe that a transparent recruitment system would go a
long way toward this aim.
Thanks,
John Rainey
