Dear colleagues (with apologies for cross-posting)
I am please to announce that the Department of German Studies at the
University of Warwick is able to offer a number of funding packages to
support postgraduate study in both German Studies and in interdisciplinary
projects involving a German component. I would be very grateful if you might
draw this to the attention of any suitable candidates.
Please note that one of the awards (see 4 below) would suit a candidate who
is in a position to start their research project more or less straight away.
We currently have four schemes of funding:
1. Warwick German Departmental Bursaries
The Department of German Studies offers a package of Departmental Bursaries
for MA study, ranging from fees-only bursaries, to full fees and maintenance
at Arts and Humanities Research Council rates.
Further details at:
http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/german/postgraduates/funding_and_fees/
2. The Godfrey Carr Fund for Excellence in German Studies
The Godfrey Carr Fund for Excellence in Warwick German was established in
2005 with generous support from ALDI and departmental alumni. The Godfrey
Carr Fund currently provides financial support up to a maximum of £1000 to
offset the cost of postgraduate fees. In 2006-7, all postgraduate students
who applied for bursaries received some financial support from either the
Department or the Godfrey Carr Fund.
Further details at:
http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/german/postgraduates/funding_and_fees/
The closing date for completed applications for BOTH the Warwick
Departmental Bursaries and the Godfrey Carr Fund for Excellence in German
Studies is 30 April 2007; however, you must have contacted Dr Sean Allan,
([log in to unmask]) by 16 March 2007 to register your intention to
apply.
3. Warwick Postgraduate Research Scholarships
Warwick Postgraduate Research Scholarships (full fees and maintenance at
Arts and Humanities Research Council rates) are currently being advertised.
Please note that the deadline for applications is very soon: 30 November
2006. You should contact Dr Sean Allan, ([log in to unmask]) AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE if you intend to apply for one of these scholarships.
Further details are available at:
http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/insite/newsandevents/notices/pgscholarships/
4. Warwick Departmental PhD bursary
We are currently in a position to offer a Departmental PhD bursary (full
fees and maintenance at Arts and Humanities Research Council rates) to a
suitably qualified candidate. Ideally the candidate would take up the award
in January 2007 and in any case not later than 31 July 2007. This award
would be particularly suitable for a student who already has a well
developed PhD proposal/project in either German Studies or an
interdisciplinary project involving a German component (including European
Cinema), but who has been unable to pursue it for lack of funding. Please
note that our regulations allow for a doctoral dissertation to be written in
either English or German where appropriate.
Interested applicants should, in the first instance, contact Dr Sean Allan
([log in to unmask]) by 30 November 2006 to register their interest and
to receive an application
form.
