Replied to Bryan in detail - but would welcome feedback on the use of cycles
as mobility aids - and the implications of this under DDA when it comes to
carrying special machines on trains and buses. Through my work with CTC - The
National Cyclists Organisation
I have found many whose mobility is immensly enhanced by using a combination
of the cycle and train or bus - yet the DfT Mobility Unit seems to have no
idea how greatly the cycle is used in this way. Many who are prohibited from
holding driving licences find that cycles with trains provide an equivalent, and
inclusive option. CTC includes this in their recommended policy for
integrating bikes with public transport - rail especially.
I feel there may well be a lot to be uncovered if we dig around a little.
