Salary range: £22,870 to £28,320 pa dependant on qualifications and experience
The Centre for Transport Studies at Imperial College is seeking a Research Assistant/Research Associate to work in the area of air traffic management mitigation procedures for environmental management.
This project is supported by the European funded CAATS II project (Cooperative Approach to Air Traffic Services). The aim of this project is to develop best practice guidelines for mitigating environmental impacts of aviation through improvements to air traffic management procedures. This work will consist of a survey of existing practice in Europe and throughout the world, aimed at mitigation of noise, air quality, and climate effects of aviation. This work will form part of a larger team at Imperial College that has been applying innovative techniques to examine the climate impacts of aviation using simulation methods. CAATS II will involve further collaboration with industry partners and other CAATS II partners.
Applicants should have experience and knowledge of environmental issues associated with aviation, air traffic management, and relevant policy issues. Qualifications should include one or more of the following fields: environmental science and policy, atmospheric physics, and air traffic management. Applicants should have excellent English communication skills and a willingness to travel to attend project meetings. Qualifications should be at least at the MSc or PhD level, but may be substituted with relevant professional experience. The appointment is initially for a period of 36 months. Applicants interested in pursuing a part-time PhD while employed are encouraged to apply, and the salary will be in the range of £22,870 to £25,430 per annum.
