At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Development and
Planning, Traffic Research Group a position as Assistant Professor in
Traffic Modelling (position no. 200611) is open for appointment from
01.08.2006.
Job description:
The position is available for a 3 year period from August 1, 2006 or as soon
as possible.
After the 3 year period the candidate can continue in a permanent position
as associate professor after a positive assessment.
Research areas will be within development and application of GIS and other
information technological tools in transport planning and traffic
engineering. The applicant is expected to be instrumental in bridging the
Department's traffic researchers of the Traffic Research Group and the GIS
researchers of the Geo Information and Media Technology Group. Entries of
the position are: Traffic modelling, Traffic simulation and Intelligent
Transport Systems.
Teaching will primarily be in the M.Sc. study programme in Engineering,
Transportation Engineering and in the Science and Engineering basic study
programme, but also in other study programmes at the University.
Special importance will be attached to the applicant being able to give
lectures in Geographical Information Systems, Traffic models and Traffic
management.
About the Traffic Research Group
The group reflects the role of traffic in society. The research covers a
wide area from planning over traffic modelling to design and construction of
the infrastructure, and it includes provision of solutions to problems
caused by road traffic - e.g. traffic accidents prevention and improved
environment by the use of technical and planning initiatives. The group also
works with effect estimation and evaluation of infrastructural facilities
and administration and planning processes. And important field is
Intelligent Transport Systems, where information technology is being used to
maximise mobility while minimising environmental impact.
Qualification requirements:
Appointment to Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at
PhD -level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of
each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment to
Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of five years in total at the
same institution.

Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance
and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics
in the State.
