The University Hospital of Münster encompasses clinics and polyclinics as
well as institutes specializing in research, training and in- as well as
outpatient care. More than 7.500 employees work in the different departments
and institutes of the University Hospital. With 1.500 beds, it is one of the
largest university hospitals in Germany providing the highest level of
medical care.
Postdoctoral position in System and Cognitive Neuroscience
and
Doctoral position in System and Cognitive Neuroscience
for three years to promote the integration of magnetencephalography (MEG)
and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)
The University of Münster invites applications to fill one postdoctoral
position (BAT IIa) and one doctoral position (BAT IIa/2) in the scientific
area of brain research located at the Institute for Biomagnetism and
Biosignalanalysis (http://biomag.uni-muenster.de) and the Department of
Psychiatry of the University Hospital of Münster
(http://www.neuroimage-muenster.de). The institute is equipped with state of
the art MEG (275 ch)/EEG (128 ch) systems, fMRI capable EEG-system and
access to 3T-fMRI system for research. The title of the project is:
“Integration of magnetencephalography (MEG) and functional magnetic
resonance imaging (fMRI) for the study of somatosensory perception and
executive control in relation to serotonergic and dopaminergic brain systems”.
The postdoctoral candidate should have received a PhD and the doctoral
candidate education in neuroscience, physics, mathematics, informatics,
medicine, psychology, or other disciplines related to studies in human
neuroscience. For the postdoctoral candidate, profound knowledge of at least
one of the two techniques (MEG or fMRI) is required. Experiences in MEG,
EEG, fMRI and other brain imaging techniques as well as highly developed
skills in scientific writing, the ability to become acquainted with new
methods within short time and good familiarity with scientific tools like
MATLAB programming and statistical analysis are appreciated.
The position of the postdoctoral and doctoral fellows is for three years,
both available immediately and with the option of extension. Salary will be
according to BAT 2a standard (for the undergraduate student BAT 2a/2) plus
additional travel allowance and support for equipment.
The positions provide interdisciplinary work environment in collaboration
with scientists from different countries and the communication language in
the Institute is English. Review of applications will begin immediately and
continue until the positions are filled.
Informal queries can initially be sent to the secretary of the Institute for
Biomagnetism and Biosignalanalysis Helga Janutta ([log in to unmask]).
To apply, please send a printed CV, a statement of research objectives and a
covering letter including the names and contact details of three referees to
Administration Department of the University Hospital of Münster, Domagkstr.
5, 48149 Münster, Germany.
Applications of women are specifically invited. In the case of similar
qualifications, competence, and specific achievements, women will be
considered on preferential terms within the framework of the legal
possibilities. Handicapped candidates with equivalent qualifications will be
