Thanks for the respone Volkmar and John,
There is no slow down when the user interface is started. The slow down
occurs especially when I select an option where a file(s) or directory
is selected. It then takes up to 1 minute before I can select anything
with the file selection dialog (I must admit the study contains a lot of
scans).
Turning off the jvm (I tried that already) resulted in the abscence of
button labels which make the gui very hard to use.
Another issue: when I change the PWD, there is no string in the message
box with the new working directory.
