I'm notr entirely sure what would be causing this. My best guess would
be that the estimated FWHM produced by spm_est_smoothness is complex for
some reason. These values are generated from square roots of some other
value, but I can not figure out how they could become negative.
What version of MATLAB are you using, and are your data 3D? Also, which
version of the SPM code are you using? It doesn't appear to be using
the latest set of patches (because line 880 is different). If you
install the updates (see the SPM web pages) then it may fix the problem.
Best regards,
-John

Subject: [SPM] error in simple regression
hi all,
i am trying to correlate a behavioural measure with the contrast of a
task ant rest condition on a voxel by voxel basis in a patient group
using a simple regression under basic models (spm2). the design is
created succesfully, but when i estimate the design an error occurs.
first the parameters are estimated correctly, but when estimating
spatial non_sphericity spm returns:
> Spatial non-sphericity (over scans) : ...estimating
derivatives
> Spatial non-sphericity (over scans) : ...writing resels/voxel
image
> ??? Second argument must be numeric, real, full and double.

> Error in ==> C:\MATLAB6p5\caspers_scripts\spm2\spm_spm.m
> On line 880 ==> R = spm_resels_vol(VM,FWHM)';

does anyone know what the problem is?
cheers,
casper
