Dear Juergen,
both options are equivalent as far as your design matrix is concerned. SPM
does never make any difference between covariates of "interest" or of "no
interest". They are all regressed simultaneously during model estimation.
For multiple regression, it is intended to enter your covariates under the
multiple regression option.
