Clinical Research Fellow
Applications are invited for the above post based in the Department of
Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy to investigate hemodynamic changes linked
to interictal discharges in patients with Epilepsy. The study will be based
at the MRI Unit, at the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy, using state of the art
3T MRI scanner to acquire functional MRI with simultaneous EEG recording and
anatomical data, and working with a multidisciplinary research team,
including neurologists, neurophysiologists and physicists. The work is
performed in collaboration with other centres in the UK and France.
Applicants should hold GMC registration and MRCP (or equivalent), have
previous experience in Neurology as an SHO or equivalent, and EEG, and be
intending to pursue a career in clinical neurology or neuroscience research.
Excellent organisational and IT skills, creativity, and the ability to act
independently are also required. The appointee will be strongly encouraged
to undertake a higher degree; the post will provide excellent training
opportunities to broaden clinical and research skills and generate
publications.
The post is available from May 2006 for 4 years in the first instance.
Starting salary on the Clinical Academic (Specialist Registrar equivalent)
scale up to £31,903 pa inclusive, superannuable.
