Dear SPM list
I am a neuroimaging researcher studying for my PhD at the Howard Florey
Institute in Melbourne. Along with a group of other PhD students we have
formed a company, "BRAINYak" and have developed a brain model for use as
a learning and teaching tool for young neuroscientists and those who are
unfamiliar with neuroanatomy. This idea came from the fact that an
increasing number of people in our lab are coming from disciplines such
as engineering and physics and find it hard to grasp simple neuroanatomy
quickly. We thought it would be useful to have a simple brain model
reference tool based on MR images that you could have on the desk to
refer to whenever you needed. It is more simple than an atlas but has
enough detail to be useful to anyone from beginners who might want to
know where the major lobes of the brain lie, to more advanced users who
are interested in brain stem anatomy. We have used high resolution T1
images and created DTI colour maps of the corresponding axial slices. We
have set these images into acrylic slides and these slides fit into a
solid timber base made from beautiful recycled Australian hardwoods. If
you are interested in getting more information about our product which
we have called "NeuroSlice", please visit our website. The product
information page contains more detailed information regarding how we
made NeuroSlice and also about how you can customise your model to suit
your own individual needs.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely
Scott Kolbe
