It seems that this happens for some DICOM files as a result of various
rounding errors that creep in. In the DICOM conversion software of
SPM5, there is a check to see if certain orientations are the same. If
they are not the same, then the software assumes that they are different
volumes. This is reasonable - except for the definition of "the same".
Tiny rounding errors may result in unintentional differences.
Try the attached files to see if they work any better. If so, then they
will be included in the next load of updates.

Subject: Re: [SPM] Question again.......Re: SPM5 left-right
Dear SPMers,
I also happen to encounter a similar error message while I was
converting ADC map of DWI, but it only happens if I use the latest
version of spm_dicom_convert.
I get no error message, and create single image, if I use the older
version, spm_dicom_convert.m 392 2005-12-21 17:45:58
But if I use the latest version, spm_dicom_convert.m 564 2006-06-29
15:33:34, I get the error message similar to Dini, and create two files,
6mm and 3mm axial slice thickness. I'm pretty sure slice thicknesses
are all 3mm. What's even more strange is that it doesn't happen to all
of the DWI scans we have.
I appreciate if someone can help me with this. I tested in both
linux(matlab7.0 with latest SPM) and windows(matlab 6.5 with old and the
latest spm)
DICOM files are acquired by GE 1.5T Signa LX scanner
Should I try alternative DICOM converter?
Thanks,
Hedok
