You can look for the file spm_bsplinc.c (spm_bsplinc.m is just a stub).
If you type
which spm_bsplinc
you see the file spm_bsplinc.mexglx (or mex??? if you're not using
Linux), which is the compiled version of the C-routine.
Mind you, the interpolation code is quite specialised stuff, because
spm_bsplinc.c only does half the work. The *actual* interpolation is
done in spm_bsplins.c -the two-stage code that these routines descend
from is by Philippe Thevenaz, see
http://bigwww.epfl.ch/thevenaz/interpolation. The function spm_bsplinc
computes spline coefficients, and spm_bsplins interpolates these
coefficients (instead of the original signal).
If it is possible, I would do the extra step in a separate routine
instead of inside that code...
All the best,
