Hello all
I am carrying out PET studies to assess longitudinal
changes of glucose metabolism in the entorthinal
cortex (and other brain regions) in MCI patients by
using FDG-PET images and corregistered MRI. I won't
make quantitative PET because I don't want to do
venous or arterial catheterization, so I will not get
access to the real physiological MRglu measure. Rather
I will make an usual spm analysis to assess changes in
this region .
I will be very grateful if you help me with these two
questions:
- Should I use the pons as a reference region to model
global effects in these patients?
-Is it absolutely necessary to correct the PET images
for atrophy?, That is to say: Is it mandatory in my
situation that PET scans must be corrected for the
CSF partial volume effects although I do not compute
MRglu?
Thank you a lot in advance
Jorge
