*Senior Research Specialist Position: *An in vivo neuroimaging research
group in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the
Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia is seeking a
Senior Research Specialist. The group is currently focusing on the
neural basis of the genetic, environmental (early trauma) and
developmental bases of vulnerability to drug abuse and addiction, of the
effects of cocaine dependence on cognitive control of behavior, and of
induced intense motivation for drug use.
*Job Description:* Work with minimal supervision, to collect, analyze
and archive data from human brain imaging studies. Assist in planning
and scheduling research procedures. Program software for stimulus
presentation to be performed by research subjects. Analyze data using
statistical techniques and interpret results. Assist in protocol design.
Investigate and propose alternative experimental procedures for
consideration by a principal investigator. Oversee and instruct others
in technical procedures. Administer and maintain the laboratory’s
computing resources including a RAID cluster and tape back-up system.
Write and edit material for publication funding proposals and
presentations. Present findings at scientific meetings.
*Preferred Qualifications: *The ideal candidate should have knowledge of
neuroimaging techniques (e.g., fMRI, PET, DTI). Previous experience with
magnetic resonance imaging in humans would be desirable. Proficiency in
using and maintaining computer systems with UNIX, LINUX and Windows XP
operating systems and proven ability in mathematical and statistical
techniques, including programming for data analysis using packages such
Matlab, SPSS, and SAS would be an advantage. Experience in applying such
computing skills in image analysis would be preferred. Previous
experience with neuroimaging analysis software (e.g., SPM, AFNI, FSL)
would be highly desirable. The candidate should also have proficient
knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Photoshop. Previous work
with human subjects would be desirable.
*Minimum Qualifications: *A bachelor's degree in a scientific field. Two
years of research experience.
