Dear All,
I realize that this is out-of-topic but hope you don't mind I pick your
brains on it.
The situation is we had bought computers to be used inside the scanner room
to deliver all the task (visual/audio etc) to the patient and to collect
their reponse during scanning session. One problem that we have is the
Windows Operating System constantly get corrupted. I am wondering whether
virtualization software like VMWare can mitigate the problem.
Has anyone have any experience using virtualization software on this type of
computer?
One plan we are evaluating is to give each user a virtual machine. If they
corrupt that virtual machine, only their project will be affected. At least,
this is what it sounds like in theory. I think it should also help with
users needing a particular version of OS for their application.
My main concerns are
(1)How fast are these virtual machines. Are they up to the task? I think it
will be save to say that there will be only one or two virtual machines
running at any time.
(2)Is the timing information accurate. For example, good enough to measure
response time.
(3)How well are the drivers "virtualized". As we all know, we do at times
use some less common i/o card. Anyone aware of any problems here?
thanking you in advance and best regards,
Cinly
