Electronic Engineer
An Electronic Engineer position is available at the Functional Imaging
Laboratory (FIL) in the Wellcome Department of Imaging Neuroscience at the
Institute of Neurology. The laboratory pursues brain research by means of
functional and structural imaging and is equipped with a 1.5 T whole body
MRI scanner (Siemens Sonata), a 3 T head MRI scanner (Siemens Allegra), an
MEG system (CTF/VSM), and two EEG systems, one being MRI compatible.
The appointee will be part of the FIL Physics Group and is expected to
help provide support in the areas of electronic hardware and software
applications for on-going fMRI and other neuroimaging projects. S/he will
also research and develop new methods in the field of cognitive interface
engineering in an MRI environment.
Candidates must have a degree or equivalent qualification in electronic
engineering, physics or a related area and a strong background in design
and construction of electronic hardware. Awareness of safety issues
related to MR imaging is also required. Experience with C/C++
programming, Matlab, signal processing, small-scale mechanical
construction, technical support, and scientific research is desirable but
not a prerequisite.
The appointment is funded for one year initially (career break
replacement) and the salary, dependent on qualifications and experience,
will be on the UCL Grade 7/8 scale from 24,886 GBP to 33,445 GBP plus
2,400 GBP London allowance per annum, superannuable.
