Postdoctoral Position
Neuroimaging (FMRI)
The Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Functional Brain Imaging (IZKF-Biomat)
of the RWTH Aachen University Hospital, Aachen, Germany seeks an
outstanding investigator for a full time research position. Candidates
should hold a Ph.D. or M.D. degree (or equivalent), substantial research
expertise in human functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging applied to
questions of cognitive neuroscience particularly. The candidate must have
experience in signal analysis, image post-processing and programming.
Cooperation with ongoing projects using novel methodologies such as ICA,
DCM, overt language production, MEG-PET-fMRI data integration, quality
assurance, real-time fMRI and non-linear statistics is expected. The most
important criterion is in the consideration of applicants is a record of
excellence in research and publications. The candidate will be expected to
supervise early stage researchers (PhD students).
Neuroimaging at the RWTH Aachen University is done in a multiprofessional
team and relies primarily on MR with 1.5 and 3 T magnets (Philips).
Moreover, PET, MEG, EEG, and TMS is available. There is close cooperation
with the Institute of Medicine, Research Center Jülich. Extensive
computing facilities are available on site and cooperation with the Science
and Engineering faculties of the RWTH is encouraged. The Departments of
Neuroradiology, Neurology, Psychiatry and Medical Psychology have an
intensive research experience in functional brain imaging. Abnormalities in
healthy adults and those with neuropsychiatric disorders (e.g.
schizophrenia, depression, autism, aphasia) are being studied.
The appointment will be for 2 years initially at the level of Senior
Research Fellow, long-term employment is expected with the possibility for
a “Habilitationâ€. The position includes a salary according to BAT 2a
(about â,¬60 000/year) plus travel allowance.
