hi,
reanalizing data with SPM5 that were already explored some years ago
with SPM99 I noticed that in some instances, there is a systematic
superior shift of the upper EPI volume surface toward the skull
surface (Z axis) following coregistration to an MPRAGE. Since our
study design included repeated measurements a coregistration of
incorrect registred volumes to the correct registered was possible in
some cases. However, there were cases where all measurements were
incorrectly coregistred. Interestingly, even arbitrarily disregistred
EPI volumes (e.g. heavily rolled and shifted) were coregistered back
to the false position directly contacting the skull.
Therefore, skullstripping with MRICRO was necessary for a correct
coregistration. Is there currently an alternative approach?
TIA
