Dear colleagues
I am a senior lecturer in midwifery, midwife and PhD student enrolled at the Centre of Online Health, University of Queensland, Brisbane. As some of you will be familiar, I am developing an e-mail mentoring system for new graduate midwives which I will evaluate by comparing variables such as job satisfaction, stress and burnout with traditional or face-to-face mentoring. A number of you have carried out work in the past in these areas for example, Jane Sandall (greetings, Jane, from down under). Do any of you have experience in studying these areas and what survey tools/questionnaires would you recommend? Jane- I am already familiar with the Maslach Burnout Inventary. How did you find working with it? Also, do any of you have experience of working with the Glasgow Midwifery Process Questionnaire used in the work of Todd, Farquhar and Camilleri-Ferrante, 1998? There are heaps of tools utilised in nursing research but few that are specific to midwifery, especially community, self-employed midwives who I will be "studying" in New Zealand.
I would be thrilled to talk to anyone interested in this area or carrying similar work, either on or off list.
Thank you all for your help.
regards
Sarah
