Junior Research Associate/Research Associate, School of Population and
Health Sciences, £21,467 - £30,607
We are seeking a research associate to work on a number of projects in the
area of maternal and perinatal health. The post is based in the Public
Health Research Group in the William Leech building, and offers an excellent
opportunity to gain experience in an active research environment and to
contribute to the development of an expanding programme of research in
maternal and perinatal public health. The work will include project
co-ordination and management, assembling and analysing large datasets,
secondary analysis of existing datasets, writing for publication and
critical review of research literature.
You will need a good first degree in a relevant numerical, life or social
science or health related subject, and either a PhD or experience of
epidemiological or other quantitative health-related research. You must be
self motivated and able to use initiative and prioritise tasks. An interest
in the field of maternal and perinatal health is highly desirable. The
successful candidate will be supported to develop applications for further
personal or project funding, and if appropriate to develop work for a higher
research degree.
The duration of the post will be for 18 months in the first instance from
September 2006. The post is available full time but part time applications
will be considered. The School is currently working towards Institute status
within the university which will result in changes to current structures.

across the spectrum of health and society.
