THankyou, I want to analyse transitional behaviour, comparing babies whose
mothers have had active management of third stage to those who have had
physiological management, so outcomes for measurement are:
Colour changes
Onset of respirations
Cardiac rate/rhythm
Interaction and skin contact with mother
Muscle state/ tone
Infant activity
Rooting behaviour and searching for the nipple.
May I ask what you mean by time-lapse recording?
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
It depends very much on what you want to analyse.
One of my PhD students is using videos to examine nurse-parent
interactions in the neonatal unit at a particular time. We have spent a
long time trying to find a suitable analysis tool.
Years ago I did some time-lapse recording in a neonatal unit
Symon A, Cunningham S (1995) Handling premature neonates: a study using
time lapse video. Nursing Times, 91 (17): 35-37
Best wishes

Hello everyone,
I am an MSc Midwifery student who is preparing a pilot observational
study
(using video) of newborn infants in the first half hour of
extrauterine
life. Does anyone have any experience of using video for research. In
particular, does any one have any experience of analysing video data?
