PRESS RELEASE
European Court of Justice confirms legality of the establishment of the
European Network and Information Security Agency (2 May 2006)The
European Court of Justice confirmed on 2 May that the European Network
and Information Security Agency (ENISA), established in 2004 with its
seat now in Heraklion (Greece), was correctly established on the basis
of the single market clause in Article 95 of the EC Treaty. The Court
thereby rejected a legal challenge made by the United Kingdom.

RFID - Continuing the Debate: High Level Workshops
15 May 2006 - 17 May 2006 Brussels, BelgiumFurther to the launch of
Europe's RFID debate at CeBIT 2006, a series of high-level workshops
will be organised to build a consensus on key issues associated with the
implementation of RFID.
The first workshop will focus on "RFID Application Domains and Emerging
Trends" (15-16 May). It will provide a broad overview of the current and
near-term uses and benefits of the technology - and when possible,
indications will be given on the market potential or the importance of
the technology for industry and users.
The second workshop on "RFID Security, Data Protection & Privacy, Health
and Safety Issues" (16-17 May) intends to raise and discuss the concerns
envisaged by stakeholder groups in the field of RFID, with a view to get
a solid understanding of the main societal, ethical and legal issues,
and to collaboratively chart new ways to address the related challenges
and opportunities. Free registration (on a first come, first served
basis) is now available on-line.

2006)From 2 May, European parents, teachers and children can get free
information on the safe use of Internet through EUROPE DIRECT, the
European Commission's free information service. Citizens can access this
service from anywhere in the European Union to find answers to questions
they may have about the EU and EU-policies, such as those in the field
of Internet safety : risks raised by the Internet, existing tools to
protect their children and how to get more help.

Eurobarometer survey 2005 on Safer Internet The Eurobarometer survey
presents the attitude of European Union citizens towards illegal and
harmful content on the Internet and their knowledge of how to protect
their children against it. It covers 25 Member States, candidate and
acceding countries and was conducted in December 2005.
