> Three-year Fellowships are being offered as a part of the following

> The aims of the scheme are to:

> * Foster the development of interdisciplinary research
> capacity in
> selected priority areas for cross-Research Council research
> * Fund high quality, independent, relevant, innovative,
> interdisciplinary research cutting substantially across the remits of
> the ESRC and at least one other Research Council which will
> complement,
> and contribute to, one of three major cross-Council research
> programmes
> * Support the career development of outstanding early career
> researchers and academics wishing to embark in an interdisciplinary
> research career
> * Facilitate the engagement of early career researchers and
> academics with the interdisciplinary research community working in
> priority areas and with key research users as appropriate.

> Applications must address the interests of both the ESRC and at least
> one other Research Council (EPSRC, BBSRC, NERC, MRC) involved in the
> programme under which the application is made, and proposals should be
> genuinely interdisciplinary in approach. Applications where either

> social science or the non-social science component exceeds 67% of the
> share will be ineligible.

> Applicants must be within six years of the completion of their PhD at
> the time of application, or of equivalent professional standing.

> not expected that applicants will have more than six years experience
> employed in an academic post at the time of applying, but they should

> experience. Awards can be held at any institution (including all
