On 22-23 September 2006 the University of Bristol will host the
first in a series of Arts and Humanities Research Council- supported
workshops bringing together postgraduates researching the colonial and
postcolonial. This interdisciplinary workshop is intended as a forum for
postgraduates to share their research with other students in the field,
and will include a skills-based workshop at the Empire and Commonwealth
Museum. We welcome abstracts of up to 300 words addressing, but not
exclusive to, the following streams:
- Decolonisation
- Conquests and beginnings
- Settlers and expatriates
- Colonial societies
- Theories of colonialism and postcolonialism
- Colonial diasporas and legacies
- Colonial narratives
Limited travel bursaries will be available for speakers.
