The following seminar may be of interest to list members: 

VISITING VIRTUAL ARTIFACTS: THE USE OF DIGITAL CONTENT FROM MUSEUMS,
GALLERIES AND ART COLLECTIONS IN HIGHER EDUCATION

ARLIS\UK & Ireland Visual Resources Committee


This study day is aimed at librarians, visual resources curators & other
professionals working in HE, Art Colleges, Museums, Galleries and Art
Collections, or anyone with an interest in accessing digital imagery.
The event will explore how the worlds of Higher Education and
Museums/Galleries might interact when it comes to the supply and
retrieval of digital material. Both sectors will be represented in an
attempt to discover the obstacles that are faced and how they might be
overcome. There will also be a chance to visit the two exhibitions in
the Brunei Gallery entitled 'The World in Colours' & 'Layered Lives'
&/or the Japanese Roof Garden

Venue:			The Brunei Gallery, School of Oriental and
African Studies, Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London, WC1H 0XG
Date and time:		Monday 22nd May 2006, 10:00am - 4:30pm 
Cost, including lunch: 	£100 ARLIS members; £50
Students/unwaged/retired; £125 Other (includes Basic Membership of ARLIS
for 2006 at £25)

10:25 - 10:30		Welcome & Introduction from Chair
10:30 - 11:15		Session 1: Tom Morgan, Head of Rights and
Reproductions, National Portrait Gallery
11:15 - 12.00		200,000 images of medicine and its history: the
Wellcome Library's Medical Photo Library online: Catherine Draycott,
Wellcome Trust 				Photographic Library
12.00 - 12.10		Break
12.10 - 13.05		Session 3: Naomi Korn, Copyright Consultant,
(including 30minute workshop on copyright issues)
13:05 - 14.15		Lunch, including optional tour of exhibitions
&/or Japanese Roof Garden
14.15 - 15:00		Session 4: TBA
15.00 - 15.45  		Session 5: Mike Pringle, AHDS Visual Arts & The
Digital Picture
15:45 - 16:00		Tea/Coffee break
16:00 - 16:30		Discussion with panel & closing remarks
