This has gone too far --cool it down is what I recommend.
I don't have the time to argue with everyone about whatever SS people decide
to claim or write on their web pages. Now it's "spatial analysis" and
"spatial networks", tomorrow it will be something else -the fact is that
these terms are being used without the proper context in papers which are
being written now. So my advise is to reflect instead of pulling the trigger.
Also, I don't think that the EPB referees, who happen to go through the
papers during their weekends or nights, deserve to have to filter
unpublished material that appears on Wikipedia or in other web servers. If
anyone disagrees, then think how many papers you have to referee per month
and how long it takes to review each.
As for SS networks, there little difference from applying social network
theory (where networks are unweighted [that was the meaning of topological])
to spatial elements (axial lines, convex spaces or isovists) and space
syntax. And that's where spatial networks are different: not only the
elements are spatially located, but the relations between these elements are
also spatial (i.e. the network is weighted).
So re-read the email I sent this morning as many times as needed and take a
deep breath if you feel personal about it.
