It has now been a decade since the Sugarscape exemplar appeared upon the scene, and this provides an opportune moment to assess the state of the field of social agent simulation. What are the most influential insights and/or the best practices that have emerged in the last decade? What are the most promising current lines of research, and how can they best be validated? What conceptual and/or technological breakthroughs hold the greatest potential for the future? The answers to these and related questions will shape the forms of progress in social agent simulation during the decade to come. We invite you to join us with your papers and insights as we explore these vital issues. Agent 2006 will reserve one day for each of the following topics:

* Social Simulation Applications, Charles Macal, [log in to unmask]

We encourage those submitting abstracts to indicate under which topic they might best be considered.

Important Dates:

* July 3, 2006      Abstract Deadline
* July 7, 2006      Notification of Acceptance
* August 7, 2006    Camera-ready Paper Deadline (required for inclusion in the Agent 2006 Proceedings)

If you are interested in presenting a paper, please submit an abstract of at least 500 words to agent [log in to unmask] If your extended abstract is accepted, you will be asked to submit a paper of 2,500 to 3,500 words in final form. Paper format guidelines and other conference-related information are provided on the Agent website. Papers that are submitted by the camera-ready paper deadline (August 7, 2006) will be published in the Agent 2006 Proceedings, which will be available on CD at this year's conference.

Registration and Fees:

Registration is required for both the conference and the workshops. Attendance at the Repast Training Course is limited.

Repast Training Course (3 days): $175 - Participants must bring their own computers. Computers will NOT be provided, except by special request. If requested, there will be an additional fee of $175, for a total of $350. No discounts for students or for partial attendance.

Agent 2006 Conference (3 days):
* $325 for business, industry, and government (including other labs)
* $225 for academic
* $125 for students
Fee includes three days of lunches, continental breakfasts, and refreshments. No discounts for partial attendance.
