Themed Call for Papers on Conceptual Modelling for Simulation
The Journal of Simulation (JOS) aims to publish articles from researchers and practitioners active in the field of discrete-event simulation. JOS is looking to promote several themes within discrete-event simulation. To reflect the observed lack of papers on the subject, this themed call asks for contributions on the topic of conceptual modelling. This can roughly be defined as determining the nature of the simulation model, but excluding the design of the model code (www.conceptualmodelling.info). Key topics include:
* Acquiring knowledge of the problem domain
* Identifying important issues
* Specifying the problem
* Developing a consensus (or accommodation) over the problem
* Understanding the boundaries of the system under study
* Agreeing the objectives for modelling
* Frameworks for determining the content of the model
* Methods of model simplification
* Representation and communication of the model
* Validation of the model
* Identifying data requirements
JOS is looking to publish a series of papers on the topic of conceptual modelling. We are looking for submission of papers in line with the editorial requirements of JOS by 10 November 2006. For details of the journal and the editorial requirements see www.theorsociety.com and click on the link for JOS. When submitting a paper on conceptual modelling, please also email Stewart Robinson ([log in to unmask]) to notify the submission of a paper on this theme.
If you would like to discuss a potential paper for the issue, please contact Stewart Robinson.
