Risk assessment should determine the risk and so determine your level of surveillance
'High' risk usually recommends screening at pre-employment, 6 weeks, 12 weeks and then annually
The screening should include paper screening minimum. Many do lung function test also (I do) but the evidence for this is heavily debated
Symptoms/ abnormal lung function tests followed up by serial peak flows, then referral onwards, if appropriate
Useful links on this on HSE website and samples of screening forms which you can adapt for your area
Urine tests are costing approximately £50 (I think!)
As I understand it, this is a measure of your controls and gives no indications that someone will develop symptoms or asthma
Check with HSL website www.hsl.gov.uk and Dr Matthew Henry for further info: [log in to unmask]
Hope this helps

Can I enquire how are you monitoring isocyanates exposure? Are you carrying
out urinalysis? If so what is the approximate cost for these tests? Do you
carry out lung function assessments as well?
