FRISNO 9 - first circular and call for papers
Dear friends and colleagues,
FRISNO-9, the 9th European/French Israeli Symposium on Nonlinear and
quantum Optics, will be held in Les Houches, in the French Alps, on
February 12 - 16, 2007 (www.weizmann.ac.il/frisno ). We continue
thereby the schedule of alternating between France and Israel every two
years. The meeting will maintain its broad spectrum of topics and will
provide an excellent opportunity to renew old contacts and form new
ones. We sincerely hope you will be joining us in Les Houches next
February to present your latest results.
A very preliminary list of speakers includes:
Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, Immanuel Bloch, David Gershoni, Peter Hamm,
Khaled Karrai, Ian Walmsley and Jean-Pierre Wolf.
FRISNO-9 will maintain the tradition of selecting most of the oral
presentations from amongst the abstract submissions, ensuring a constant
renewal of speakers and opportunities to young scientists. Based on
previous experience, the informal atmosphere generates very successful
poster sessions, and all participants are encouraged to submit more than
one abstract, so that part of their work may be presented in a poster
session. All submissions will be considered by the Scientific
Committee, and a final program will be announced well in advance of the
meeting itself.
As in the past, the main sessions for oral presentations will be held
in the mornings and in the late afternoons, and the evenings will be
dedicated to the poster sessions. The afternoons will be free for binary
or many-body interactions, while exploring the beautiful scenery of the
slopes of the Mont-Blanc and the important ski resorts available at the
station. Now is the time to prepare your abstracts, and send it at the
earliest possible date, but certainly not later than the deadline of
December 1, 2006. Israeli submissions should be sent to
[log in to unmask], all other submissions should be sent to

The organizing committee managed to secure some financial support for a
limited number of students. All students are invited to apply for
financial help. Decisions on financial help will be announced with the
acceptance note of the contributions.
The Symposium will be hosted in the Ecole de Physique in Les Houches, a
location which allows an easy access to trekking paths and ski resorts.
The Frisno webpage is www.weizmann.ac.il/frisno. Please check it
periodically for important dates, regular updates and organizational
details, but with limited capacity of no more that 75 participants. To
ensure your participation, early registration is recommended.
Looking forward to hearing from you and to seeing you in Les Houches.
