other areas of media studies, including audience research, media policy,

The Post
The School of Politics and Communication Studies wishes to appoint a Lecturer
with a specialist interest in Political Communication, the preference being for
someone with a research and teaching focus on aspects of media-political
relations such as media policy, political journalism or political publicity.
Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with European or
international interests.
The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate
teaching programmes and will have scope to introduce or develop modules in
their fields of expertise at second year, third year and Masters levels. With
a completed doctorate in a relevant area of inquiry and a strong and developing
record of publications, the successful candidate will be expected to offer
research supervision and demonstrate a clear capacity to assist the School in
improving its current RAE rating of 4A in 2008. Ability to win external
research funding and attract research students will be required. The post will
also involve administrative duties, as decided by the Head of the School.
These will primarily include the directorship of our successful MA degree in
Politics and Mass Media.
The successful candidate is expected to take up the post in January 2007, or as
soon as possible thereafter.
