The CILIP Library and Information History Group will be visiting the
Signet Library, the historic library of The Society of Writers to Her
Majesty's Signet, in Parliament Square, Edinburgh on Tuesday 13th June.
The WS Society is one of the oldest professional bodies in the world, and
is dedicated to the promotion of high quality legal services in Scotland.
The Library serves both as a modern legal resource and an impressive venue
for corporate functions (http://www.thewss.co.uk/index.asp?cat=Library).
The LIHG visit begins at 2.30pm with a talk on 'Legal Libraries of the
Court of Session Quadrangle: An historical guide' by Audrey Walker, former
Librarian and Information Services Manager, and will be followed by a tour
of the Signet Library. The event is free and all are welcome. It should
appeal especially to those with an interest in library history, legal
history, and the provision of legal information past and present.
Those also interested in the work of the LIHG would be welcome to attend
the committee meeting at 12 noon on the same day.
For further information, and to book a place, please contact the LIHG Hon.
Secretary Anna Jones ([log in to unmask]).
