Mapping Floods - Charting the Environment
From hazards such as floods and erosion, to new opportunities such as
offshore wind and waterfront developments - HR Wallingford provides advice
to government and industry on managing the water environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technician to join HR Wallingford to
work with the latest Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and web
technologies to manage and process environmental data. Working as part of
the Informatics team you will receive training in geospatial data
management skills including digitisation, data pre-processing and quality
checks, data cataloguing and digital map production.
Qualified to GCSE/A-level or equivalent, with a knowledge of
maths/engineering/geography, you should be computer literate, familiar
with the Windows operating system and have an understanding of word
processing and spreadsheet applications. Interest in managing the
environment and mapping environmental changes would be an advantage. Of
key importance is a desire and aptitude to learn and be trained in how
software can be used in modelling and charting environmental changes.
