HI - yes, you're right, things are slightly different, to simplify
things:
The files used to be (e.g.)
higherlevel.gfeat/cope1.nii.gz
and inside higherlevel.gfeat/cope1.feat there used to be a link to this
In 3.3, the cope1.nii.gz file does get initially created, then once
the individual FEAT starts running, it gets _moved_ to be named:
cope1.feat/filtered_func_data.nii.gz
(likewise for var_filtered_func_data.nii.gz etc.)
So you should be able to find what you need.
