Dear All

We would like to draw your attention to the following call to tender:

Call to Tender

biab online Integrated Content Management & Knowledge Organisation System
(for the existing biab online services & in-house production)

biab online - the British & Irish archaeological bibliography, a Council for British Archaeology (CBA) information service - wishes to commission an organisation to carry out the creation and implementation of an integrated content management and knowledge organisation system for the existing biab online services and underlying in-house production and management processes.

biab online is the online bibliography, abstracts and indexing service for publications pertaining to the archaeology of the UK and Ireland. Work to build the existing biab online database began in 1991 with the current Access database coming into everyday office use in 2001. The present biab online database is made available through the CBA's servers using SQL Server. The dataset comprises c.200,000 bibliographic records - many with abstracts.

The successful organisation will be required to:

·	Produce a draft project design based on the requirements of the Functional Specification.

·	Develop that design with biab online staff into a new integrated content management and knowledge organisation system

·	Import the entire dataset into the new integrated content management and knowledge organisation system.

·	Work with biab online staff to ensure full testing and adjustment of the populated system into a fully functioning online and in-house system

biab online is inviting interested candidates to tender for the above project, to produce a system that is readily configurable, extensible and flexible

In commissioning this work biab online are employing a procedure following the MLA (Museums Libraries Archives) Restricted Procedure. Contractors interested in tendering are invited to complete a pre-qualification questionnaire (pqq) by Friday 24th March 2006. Following receipt of completed questionnaires, a number of contractors may be invited to make a presentation to the steering group.

For further and full information including the Functional Specification, pre-qualification questionnaire and Project Brief documents, contact: [log in to unmask]
